Studies on the antihepatoxicity and antioxidative effect of Ampelopsis brevipedunculata leaves and its active components

Abstract
Phytochemical study was carried out on the leaves of Ampelopsis brevipedunculata (Vitaceae), and then seven compounds were isolated from the ethyl acetate slouble fraction of the methanol extract by using silica gel and Sephadex LH-20 column
chromatography. Compound I was found to be a mixture of 1,2-benzene dicarboxylic acid, dibutyl ester, docosane, 7,9-dimethyl hexanedecance, tetracosane, pentacosane, 9-octyl heptacane, pentadecane, eicosane, hexacosane, ethyl cyclodocosane,
1-dotriacontanol by GC/MS. Compounds II, III, IV, V, VI and VII were identified as rhamnetin, quercetin, gallic acid, apigenin-8-glucosisde, hyperin and rutin by spectroscopic methods (IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, MS and UV) and other physicochemical
techniques
respectively. Rhamnetin and hyperin were identified as one of the active principles having antihepatotoxicity from the leaves of Ampelopsis brvpedunculata. Rhamnetin, quercetin, gallic acid, apigenin-8-C-glcoside, hyperin and rutin were also
identified
as one of the active principles having antioxidative effect from the leasves of Ampelopsis brevipedunculata.
